Description

CRN-5691 is a motion sensor for 12V voltage with wall mounted case for applications as a device that triggers controllers when motion of an object is detected. The sensor is cooperating with lighting controllers for stairs. The sensor detects objects emitting infrared (heat) radiation, such as people or animals.

The sensor sends a fixed-length pulse (about 5 sec) after motion detection. The pulse has a negative level and can be connected directly to the controller input.

The sensor has a small, green LED diode that indicates the sensor’s operation. The diode lights up for the pulse time. The diode can be used to mount and adjust the sensor.

The sensor’s operating voltage is from 5 to 20V and thus it can work without any problems at 12V, which is most often available when powering LED strips.

An additional feature of the sensor is the twilight sensor system. The sensitivity of the twilight sensor can be adjusted, and in the extreme position of the control element — completely switched off. Note: Twilight sensor only immobilizes the sensor. When the twilight sensor is switched on, with sufficiently bright lighting, the sensor stops sending pulses to the controller. It does not turn off the controller itself!

NOTE: The CRN-5691 motion sensor is electronically modified in relation to other similar motion sensors! 230V power supply must not be connected to it! We do not recommend other uses.

Control  elements

The motion sensor has two control elements: the sensitivity of the motion sensor (SENS) and the sensitivity of the light sensor (LIGHT). The sensor is delivered with the control elements set in the starting positions: for the motion sensor it is the maximum sensitivity, and for the twilight sensor it is the switch-off state (then the twilight sensor does not work). Change the position of the controls carefully. In case of problems, please return the adjusting elements to the starting position.

Connecting the sensor

The sensor has a three-pole connector described on the housing. You should connect it to the power supply (+ 12V) and the controller input with great care. Erroneous connection of power supply or controller input will damage both devices!

The sensor can be mounted in a standard installation box with a diameter of 60 mm.

The sensors can be connected directly to the controller according to the diagram.

The sensor adjustment is simple: first set the appropriate sensitivity and check if the sensor responds properly to a person approaching the stairs. If the sensor activates on people passing by the stairs, the fresnel lens of the sensor should be properly covered. For this purpose, the front panel is removed and the inside is covered with e.g. white insulating tape so that the sensor does not "see" people passing by.
