Description

The STX-1791 controller is used for static lighting control of stairs. Its operation consists in slowly switching on the lighting of the entire stairs and after a set time, slowly switching off the lighting.

You can set five parameters of the controller yourself: brightness in the on state, brightness in the off state (so-called backlight), speed of lighting up (igniting) stairs, speed of blanking (dimming) and lighting time.

It is adapted to control LED MONO strips placed in steps or LED spots embedded in the wall above the steps. You can also control other lighting of stairs, eg 12V ceiling lamps.

The lighting can be started in the simplest version by pressing the button on the wall connected directly to the controller or by applying (additionally) a sensor (infrared, movement, pressure, etc.) detecting the moment of entry of the person on the stairs. If during the lighting of the stairs the button is pressed again or there is an impulse from the motion sensor, the lighting time will be extended.

The principle of work - brightness control

Stairs lighting is done in the following order:

After pressing the button or the signal from the motion sensor (eg at the bottom of the stairs), all steps at the same time light up to the set maximum. After the selected time (eg 20 seconds) the controller slowly dims the lighting of the stairs.

Depending on the parameter settings of the controller, the staircase lighting can go out to zero or to a certain minimum value allowing to lightly light up the stairs for their presentation or to make it easier to move around in the dark - without lighting full lighting (especially important for children!).

In case when the second person enters the stairs (or subsequent people), the controller starts to count down the lighting time from that moment, which results in the extension of the lighting activation time.

Connection

Diagram of connecting the controller and motion sensors An exemplary diagram shows the connections of the controller of two 230V motion detectors. In order to separate the network voltage from the controller inputs, the STP-4811 relay unit must be used.

Technical data

Power supply - 12V stabilized (external power supply), controller power supply - 100 mA
Maximum current of controlled LEDs (all stairs) - 20A

Inputs:

Inputs activated by a negative impulse (short to ground) of min. 50 ms. Maximum cable length between the controller and the button - 50 m (software interference suppression).

Output:
